Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 October 2026. Vabop is made by Marcos Cunha, Miami, Florida.
Vabop offers parent-led browser play for pre-readers aged 2 to 6. The iPhone and iPad app is in development. This page distinguishes the website services available today from the native app design.
The short version. Browser games need no sign-in, camera or microphone. Optional app updates ask for a parent's email and require confirmation. The website also loads fonts and analytics as described below. Native permissions and offline behavior still need release validation.
Free web games
Free browser games need no sign-in and do not request camera or microphone access. Play is parent-led.
Browser play remembers interface and learning-language choices in local browser storage. Breakfast-session starts, completions and exits are counted only in the current page's memory. They contain no name or household identifier, are not sent to Vabop and clear when the page reloads. Browser voices depend on the browser and operating system; their availability and processing can vary.
Parent app-update emails
The waitlist asks for one thing, a parent's email address. When you enter it we send you a confirmation email, and you are added to the list only when you open the link in it and press the confirm button on that page. If you never click, the address stays unconfirmed and we do not email you again. The address is stored by Resend, the company that sends our email for us, and is used only for app availability updates. A breakfast phrase-email series is not available, and joining this waitlist does not subscribe you to one. We do not send it anywhere else and we do not sell or share it. To come off the list, reply to any email from us or write to the address below, and we will delete it.
Other website services
The website includes Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate page-view measurement. Vercel describes its request processing and cookie-free measurement in its privacy documentation. We do not add advertising audiences or send breakfast-game interaction counters to an analytics service.
Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. That means your browser fetches a font file from Google's servers, and Google sees that request as it would for any site using its fonts. We use no Google Analytics and no other tracking on this site.
Cuéntame, the story maker on this site, writes each story with the help of a language model run by Anthropic or OpenAI. The request our server sends them contains only the language, an age band and the ids of the words and interests you picked from our own list. It has no field for a name: the story comes back with a blank in it and the page fills in your child's name on your device, so the name is not in anything we send. When the book reads itself aloud it uses only a voice that runs on your device. If your device has no such voice for the story's language, the story is shown on the page for you to read; it is not sent to a voice service. Every story is checked against our own rules before it is shown, and one that fails the check is not shown at all. To keep the service from being abused we count requests per network address for an hour, and the count is dropped within minutes after that hour ends.
Children's privacy
Play is intended to be parent-led. We minimize requests for family information and keep the parent waitlist optional. We will review privacy and consent requirements before introducing new collection. The FTC's children's privacy guidance explains the requirements for websites and apps. This page does not establish that a planned feature is exempt from those requirements. Contact us with privacy questions or concerns.
Planned iPhone and iPad app
The following sections describe the native app design. These features are not part of the free browser games. The app is in development; supported-device permissions, offline use and network behavior still need release validation.
Native app design: local learning data
Everything your child does in Vabop is written to their own device: which words they have met, the pictures you add, the child's first name if you enter one, and your settings. That information stays on the device. It is included in your own device backup if you use one, and it is deleted when the app is deleted.
We cannot see any of it. There is no Vabop server holding your child's learning history, because there is no Vabop account.
The microphone and your child's voice
The native design uses Apple's on-device speech recognition where supported, with a pointing and tapping fallback. This describes the current design; supported-device audio and permission checks are part of the release work. Browser games do not request microphone access.
If a device or a language cannot run speech recognition on the device itself, Vabop does not listen at all. The game quietly switches to pointing and tapping instead. We would rather a game work differently than send a child's voice anywhere.
You can revoke microphone access at any time in the device Settings, and the app keeps working without it.
The camera
One game lets your child point the camera at a real thing, a cup, a shoe, a ball, and hear its name. The picture is recognised by Apple's image classification running entirely on the device. No photo is taken, no frame is saved, and nothing leaves the device. Only words from Vabop's own list can be recognised; anything else the camera sees is simply ignored.
The camera is on only while that game is open. You can revoke camera access at any time in the device Settings, and the rest of the app keeps working without it.
Photos
Vabop lets a parent add photos of real things in your home so your child learns the word for your cup and your sofa. Those photos are copied into the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded, never analyzed, and never seen by us or by anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.
Names
You may enter your child's first name so the guide can greet them. The name is stored on the device only. Lines that contain your child's name are always spoken by the device's own built in voice and are never sent anywhere.
Native network and offline behavior
The native app is in development. Its design keeps family learning data on the device. Offline use, permissions and network behavior must be checked on the supported release builds. The browser site makes network requests to serve pages, assets and the website services described on this page.
App Store purchases and subscription checks involve Apple. The native app's release privacy information will describe the verified behavior of the released build.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a subscription is active. You can cancel at any time in your device Settings under your Apple Account, and cancelling is a normal two tap process with no hoops and no phone call.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information. Contact us about your waitlist address or website privacy questions. Local browser preferences can be removed through your browser's site-data controls. Clearing browser data can also remove locally saved stories. Device backups can retain copies of native local data.
Changes
If we ever change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change reaches the app. If a change ever meant collecting something new from a child, we would ask a parent first.
